Survival Guide: Dust Settles Privacy Policy

This privacy policy discloses the privacy practices for This privacy policy applies solely to information collected by this web site and attached game. It will notify you of the following:
  1. What personally identifiable information is collected from you through the web site, how it is used and with whom it may be shared.
  2. What choices are available to you regarding the use of your data.
  3. The security procedures in place to protect the misuse of your information.
  4. How you can correct any inaccuracies in the information.

How We Collect and Use Information

While you may visit the website anonymously at any time, in order to fully utilize all aspects of the website and especially to play the game itself, a user must first complete the signup form. During registration a user is required to give certain information (such as a username and email address). This information is used to validate your account, allow for password resets, and gives you access to the game, forums, and other features of the site. At your option, you may also fill out the profile page and provide demographic information (such as birthdate and country of origin) about yourself, but it is absolutely not required.

For full clarification, we collect the following types of information about you:

Email - We require a valid email address to sign up for an account. This email address will be used for account validation, password resets, and may be used for contacting you in the event such contact is deemed necessary (i.e. to respond to questions/comments/support requests you initiate, in the event that a rule has been violated, in the event of a data breach). This email will not be shared.

Username - This will be the unique name that you choose for your primary account when you sign up. This will be visible to other users of the site and may be visible to anonymous visitors if you earned a rank or award that we display in an unrestricted area.

Camp Name - Similar to your user name this is a self-chosen name that is created by you when you start a camp in any available round. This name will be visible to other players in that round and on the main site through your profile and score charts. It may also be visible to anonymous visitors on the main webpage.

Profile Information - This will automatically show your username, the date you created an account, and any avatar you have chosen to use. You may optionally add your birthday, occupation, country, language, and a signature and blurb of your choosing. None of these optional details are required to use the website or the game. They will be visible to other logged in accounts from your profile page. If you are not comfortable with others knowing this information, do not fill out those fields in your profile. They are merely there for those who wish to use it.

IP Address - This is used in the creation of cookies that are designed to help make sure that the person accessing your account is you. This information is not made public and is only used by us in aggregate so that we can have a better understanding of the places that our players are coming from for things like future advertising and possible localization efforts.

Game Data - We will collect the data about most of the actions a camp completes during a round. While some of this data will be displayed publicly for scores, more will remain private and will be used by the developers for evaluation. Forum posts will be read by admins and moderators. Alliance forum posts and in-game messages are subject to review under certain circumstances (i.e. suspicion of cheating, claims of harassment, or other violation of game and community rules).

We are the sole owners of the information collected on this site. We only have access to/collect information that you voluntarily give us during signup, profile editing, or other direct contact from you. We will not sell or rent this information to anyone. We will use your information to respond to you when you contact us, to allow for password resets when requested, to validate your account at creation, and in certain exigent circumstances as noted above. We will not share your information with any third party outside of our organization, other than as necessary to fulfill your request, e.g. to ship an order. Unless you ask us not to, we may contact you via email in the future to tell you about specials, new products or services, or changes to this privacy policy. We use third party tools, including Zazzle, Patreon, and Paypal for merchandise and other account related purchasing. These websites have their own privacy policies and may collect a different set of personal information. We cannot be responsible for their practices or policies.

Your Access to and Control Over Information

Opt Out
You may opt out of any future contacts from us at any time. You can do the following at any time by contacting us via the email address given on our website:
  • See what data we have about you, if any.
  • Change/correct any data we have about you.
  • Have us delete any data we have about you.
  • Express any concern you have about our use of your data.

We use "cookies" on this site. A cookie is a piece of data stored on a site visitor's hard drive to help us improve your access to our site and make sure that persons accessing accounts and camps have authorization to do so. For instance, when you log in, a unique cookie is created based on several factors including what device you are using. A unique cookie is created for each device that you use to log into your account and access your camps. This allows you the convenience of not having to login multiple times as you swap from one device to another, however, we do encourage you to be careful with this convenience. If you are using a device shared by others, please log out once you are finished or will no longer be the one accessing the device.

Further Details
We take precautions to protect your information. When you submit sensitive information via the website, your information is protected both online and offline.

While we use encryption to protect sensitive information transmitted online, we also protect your information offline. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, billing or customer service) are granted access to personally identifiable information. The computers/servers in which we store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment.

As noted above, though we offer things for sale, we use third parties to handle credit card transactions. No more information than necessary will be shared by us with these other parties, and then only enough to make sure that the correct account receives the appropriate benefit. Even then the information we share will be limited and generally associated with specific information we create when you sign up for an account/camp rather than personal information that you have provided.

At no point will we ask for any credit card or similar sensitive information from you without using one of these resources, meaning we do not see, store, or otherwise have access to such information.

Please see the service's Privacy Policy for details on the types of personal information that they may require to complete transactions and how they keep your information secure.

This web site contains links to other sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, PayPal, Patreon, Zazzle, and others. Please be aware that we are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of any other site that collects personally identifiable information.
